Firm Tofu

Normally, I buy a reduced-fat extra firm tofu. I only usually prepare it in a few ways. But since I was trying Nasoya firm tofu (thanks to Social Nature), I thought I'd try out new uses. So, I used half of it to make a recipe from the Nasoya site ( - halved). It was very easy to cook with, crumbling up easily and yet maintaining a hearty texture. It absorbed the flavours really well, a little TOO well. In short, I don't recommend that recipe! lol. I used the other half to make a small batch of the seitan "turkey" from a free PDF ( I pressed it very well and worked it into the seitan. Though I (again) don't care for the recipe itself, I LOVED what adding firm tofu did to the texture! I will definitely be doing that again, but with my preferred other ingredients. In short, it has a great texture, is easy to use, and absorbs flavours a lot better than what I usually use. It's very versatile. Just make sure whatever recipe you use doesn't have too much (or too little) seasonings. I'm sure I'll be using Nasoya firm tofu in the future for tofu scrambles and maybe pot-pie. Though some of the other recipes I make, I'll stick with my regular reduced-fat extra firm (for texture). I recommend Nasoya firm tofu.

Parmigiana Tofu


  • 1 pkg Nasoya Extra Firm Tofu, or Nasoya Extra Firm Twin Pack, or Nasoya Firm Tofu
  • 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 5 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 6 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Salt and pepper


  1. In a small bowl, combine bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Slice tofu into 1/4-inch-thick slices and place in bowl of cold water.
  3. One at a time, press tofu slices into crumb mixture, turning to coat all sides.
  4. Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Cook tofu slices until crisp on one side. Drizzle with a bit more olive oil, turn, and brown on the other side.
  5. Combine tomato sauce, garlic, and remaining oregano.
  6. Place a thin layer of sauce in an 8-inch square baking pan. Arrange tofu slices in the pan.Spoon remaining sauce over tofu. Top with shredded mozzarella and remaining 3 tbsp Parmesan.
  7. Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes.

Loved this tofu!! I made miso soup with this and it was perfect!! Very easy to handle and cook with. I would definitely recommend this to all of my family and friends!!


Don't regularly eat tofu, but really enjoyed the natural taste and that you can add it to stir fries and other foods. I'm the parent of a child with diabetes and I'm always finding products that are tasty and healthy.


I eat tofu sparingly, but i liked the Firm Tofu from Nasoya. It cooked nice and took on the flavor of the dish I made well. If you eat tofu, this one is worth trying.


Tastes great and can use in many ways . Can marinate, you can use it as a meat substitute. You can also use it in smorothies as a source of protein


I absolutely enjoyed it. It had a great taste and was just delicious. I would buy again and I would also highly recommend. I am sure there is other ways I could enjoy it. I also like how much protein you get. I ate this just the way it came and was easy to eat.
